Thoughts from Thailand

What constitutes a healthy church?

If the church is the body of Christ how does the local church display health and life?  We went to a church in the town of Singburi in the Thai province of Lop Buri this Sunday.  It wasn’t that big.  In fact the main room where we went probably measured no more than 4 Thoughts from Thailand Picmetres by 6 metres.  There were only about 40 people there and by some standards this could be classified simply as a small rural church.  But consider the following; this church has given birth to two other daughter churches, who in turn have given birth to two more churches!

The main activity for the Singburi church members for that Sunday afternoon was to go and encourage one of the “daughter” churches.  This was something that people were talking about and looking forward to doing.

The body of Christ must be involved in reproduction.  This is an indicator of health, vibrancy and obedience to the great Commission of Matt 28.  As parents one of the greatest joys of our life is our family.  As a church one of our greatest joys should be to see the formation of other churches based on our witness to the saving power of Jesus Christ.

With love
