The Growth Choice

The message I will be sharing with you this Sunday may be one of the more important messages I’ve shared with you because it’s about how to finish the race, how to keep on keeping on, how to continue growth your entire life. Because life is not a fifty-yard dash. It’s a marathon.

The Relationship Choice [audio]

This Sunday we will visit our heavenly Father, The King, who sees the debt that we owe and knows that it’s enormous. He knows that it’s gigantic. He knows that we have blown it. Yet he does not approach us with anything but arms that say come home, welcome home, you’re here, I’ve missed you. And he hugs us and he kisses us and he says you are my child. Why does he do that? Why does he treat us with such kindness? Because He is the God whose name is love.
Because he has treated us this way, he asks us to treat others with that same kind of mercy and grace.

The Transformation Choice [audio]

Do you want to change? Is it your desire to more closely reflect the person you know God called you to be. This Sunday we will continue our series “Life’s Healing Choices” with Rick Warren from Saddle Back Church. Rick points out that if God’s going to change you, make the changes in your life that you want to see and that God wants to see in your life, you can be certain of this one thing, He is going to use conflict. God uses conflict to change people.

The Housecleaning Choice [audio]

Sometimes Christianity comes across as a bunch of rules that is best summarized as one big don’t statement. We have all experienced that in the Christian faith. There is the person who sees life as nothing but a bunch of rules and all the rules are don’t. They want you to believe that the Christian life is just Don’t, Don’t, Don’t, No, No, No. They want you to think that’s what life in Christ is all about.

The Christian life is not about don’t. The Christian life is about do. It isn’t about can’t. It’s about can. The Christian life is not about no, it’s about yes. The Christian life is about freedom. Freedom in Christ.

The Commitment Choice [audio]

For the past two weeks at church, we have been discussing this truth, “no matter how hard we try to keep everything under control, we are powerless. Whether it is our tendency to do wrong, experience hurt or cause pain, we are powerless. The good news is twofold, there is one who has the power and, that power is available. The challenge though is this, we are seldom willing to do access this power even when we are experiencing or causing great pain.

The Hope Choice [audio]

Comfort. We are told that this is what we want, comfort. Much of what we buy is purchased because we believe that in some way it will afford us greater comfort. We avoid or do certain things because we have been convinced that this action will give us greater comfort. It’s all about the “comfort” level. Because it is all about our comfort level we go to great extremes to avoid that which is uncomfortable. We do this in different ways, always looking for comfort. In our series, “Life’s Healing Choices” (Saddleback Church), these “paths” are lifted up.

The Reality Choice [audio]

This Sunday we will begin a new series entitled “Life’s Healing Choices”. God has another plan. God's Word teaches us how to end the game with sin, and recover from our hurts and hang-ups once and for all. God’s Word teaches us how to unplug the “power” that feeds temptation, sin, hurts and hang-ups so that the power isn't getting into it anymore and those moles don't just keep popping back up.

The Healing Model of Jesus [audio]

Rick Warren asks the question, “how do you know if you're filled with love for other people”? I suppose one way is to determine if you care about them, if you're thinking about them. If you never think about them you really can't say that you love them, that you care about them.
