Men's Small Group
Trinity Bible Church
Thank you very much for your generosity in not only achieving but exceeding the goal of 500 sleeping bags for our homeless men and women. We had hoped to match the costs of 500 sleeping bags purchased in faith by Trinity Bible Church of Ottawa. “You not only matched it, you exceeded it”. The 120 hooded winter shirts purchase was a story in itself. We contacted Giant Tiger to inform them that we had $800 left over that needed to be spent right away to benefit the homeless during the cold of winter. Giant Tiger informed us hooded winter shirts were available that retailed for $17.99. We asked how many shirts $800 would buy? An hour later we got a call back saying that it was willing to provide 120 of them. They are now at the Ottawa Mission. Without Giant Tiger’s assistance in providing extremely discounted prices all of this would not have been possible. “What a great Canadian owned organization”. Please “pass it forward” and remember Giant Tiger when you are making future purchases to return the favour. A special thanks to Trinity Bible Church for providing the means to enable you, as donors, the benefit from tax exemptions by giving to our worthy cause. TBCO, who saw its congregation unite to the call of need, has also informed us that it will be pleased to provide this service in coming years so our homeless souls will remain “in HIS care”. “It is more blessed to give than to receive” Acts 20:35 “in HIS care” PS: 100% of donations received went towards the homeless with all other expenses borne by the “in HIS care” committee and Trinity Bible Church. Following are four letters of thanks from those who distributed the sleeping bags to the homeless: Shephards of Good Hope ~ Operation Come Home ~ The Ottawa Mission ~ Ottawa Innercity Ministries
The relief agencies were extremely thankful as they all expressed that needs had increased yet donations from other sources were down. When we told them that we were able to do a little more beyond the 500 sleeping bags they were ecstatic. We ended up being able to purchase 50 more sleeping bags, 5 special -40 degrees sleeping bags for some extreme cases, and 120 hooded winter shirts.

"In His Care" background information:

Dear Friends:
The “in HIS care” drive to provide sleeping bags for the homeless in the
It has become quite clear that there is a dire need as the majority of the Homeless who require sleeping bags are those suffering from mental and physical abuse during their early years. In addition, due to recent specialty hospital closings, people with mental anxieties are also at risk. Yes, there are relief agencies, but some of these fellow human beings are in fear of others and remain out in the cold.
These “keyless” people have no key, no door, no home and no hope. Isn’t it ironic? Foxes have holes, birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man had nowhere to lay his head (Matt 8:20). To the Homeless your donated sleeping bags become a symbol of caring. This is where you come in.
Trinity’s Pastor Shawn, the Elders and Men’s ministries decided that this good work must continue to help these poor souls. “We will make it happen” without jeopardizing our other commitments. That said, we would like you to consider in doing without that little extra such as a “meal out” as we have taken a leap of faith in providing the funds to purchase 500 sleeping bags. Yes, it is a little extra beyond your present commitments, but well worth a small personal investment.
The bottom line is that this cause is about the Homeless surviving the harsh
When you contribute please make your cheques payable to “Trinity Bible Church of Ottawa.” On the bottom memo line be sure to add “in HIS care” so it gets allocated to the cause. Any donations made after December 31st will be supplied with receipts in taxation year 2010. Please note that 100% of your donation goes towards the sleeping bags as explained on the bottom of this letter.
On behalf of Pastor Shawn, The Elders, and Men’s ministries we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you will provide this year to make the Homeless’ well being this winter a reality once again.
God bless you for helping the unfortunates.
